Abstract

Gastronomic tourism, especially food routes linked to designations of origin, have emerged as a strategic development option for many rural destinations. This study focuses on the olive oil tourism (oleotourism) and, specifically, on the olive oil route in the Protected Designation of Origin Baena, in order to know the profile of the tourists, the economic development potential of the area as well as the weaknesses that need to be improved in the region to boost this type of tourism. Undoubtedly, this route has the potential to provide a strong competitive advantage for this area.
