Abstract

Despite the efforts and progress to promote gender equality in science and research, statistics and literature are conclusive: in recent decades women are the majority among university graduates, however, at present, they constitute 21,6% of all professors. This lower presence of women in the highest categories is called glass ceiling. This document presents as main objective to analyze the relationship between the decline in participation of women in the academic career from reading the doctoral thesis and their participation in post-graduate training programs. To this end, we analyze and compare data of "Formación del Personal Investigador" (FPI) and "Ramón y Cajal" programs. The results show a lower female participation, along with a lower success rate in granting them.
