This paper examines the urban strategies of foreign communities in sixteenthcentury Seville and their impact on the city, which by the time was the Spanish entrepôt for trade between Europe and America. The study focuses on the evolution of the Flemish and German population in the second half of the century. During this period, the community developed from a small number of individuals to a prosperous community that constructed a chapel in the most thriving area of town. The analysis is based on fiscal censuses and notarial documents that allows us to understand the correlation between their position in town and their socio-economic activities
