Abstract

Having viewed two performing art works, artistic narrative and languages are constantly intermingled, merging with texts product of the historical quest/journey. This book tries to recover the extreme violence suffered by women¿s bodies out of an emotional, subjective interpretation (as yet another language); It is possible readers encounter the coming and going of scenes or moments, attempting to transform works of art into primary sources, complementing and confirming the events (as if theory and history were verbalized through art) and sometimes as my insights, evoked by the texts and the artworks. Women¿s oppression revolves around her body. The meaning of ¿woman¿ is reduced to ¿body¿ but again, one not belonging to her, but for the benefit of others. This text travels historical paths to understand violence¿s manifestations, mostly as a direct relation with the body of women. It is also a tribute to Costa Rican artists depicted in two works: Augustine de Selma Solórzano and Vacío by Roxana Ávila and Grupo Abya Yala.
