Abstract

The frame of reference of this work is the participation in the Day of Physical Education in the street, whose objective is to show Physical Education (PE) that is currently done in the classroom, in this case outside the context of the school. The activity was incorporated into the University Orientation Program of the University of Zaragoza (POUZ) as a noncurricular practice, to be carried out outside academic hours. The Service Learning (SL) as an intentional and structured teaching-learning model, combines two key components: the academic learning objectives acquired by the student in the subjects of the Degree, and the objectives of service to the community in which the participating children benefit from the practice of a different physical activity. Objectives: i) To know from the point of view of the students if this type of activities favors their competence development; ii) to know if the use of ApS methodologies in the tutorial action, produces an approach between tutor and students. Method: The study population was formed by 32 students of the Teaching degree in Primary Education. Accompanied by the tutor of the group, they energized the day with 140 students from different schools in Zaragoza. The evaluation was carried out through an opinion questionnaire trough likert scale, on which a descriptive analysis was carried out. Results: The student scores in all the variables are higher than 7 points, the highest being questions 9 and 13, related to the tutor-student approach (9.50 ± .76 and 8.56 ± 1.39). Conclusions: The assessment has been very positive for both the students and the tutor. The results indicate the convenience of including some non-curricular practice to improve the relationship of the tutor-student binomial and that it is more fluid in the academic year.
