Abstract

As many subject matter experts have reported to date, Public Service Interpreting and Translation -PSIT- has not yet achieved a professional status in Spain. This situation results in low salaries, constant unqualified professional practice, as well as the usual training gaps which, in short, lead to a huge lack of awareness about PSIT, all of which reveal the need to change its state of research. That is why this study aims at stimulating the acknowledgment of PSIT via the new social media and, more specifically, blogs. With this aim in mind, the presence of this branch of Translation and Interpreting studies will be studied in the Spanish blogosphere using proprietary software, and the relation between this presence and the current status of this field of study.
