Abstract

Peyronie disease is characterized by the hardening of the penis due to the formation of fibrous plaques in its dorsum lateral part, involving the membrane (tunica albuginea) that surrounds the erectile tissue of the cavernous bodies. That can eventually cause a painful deformity of the axis or urethra constriction, or both of them. The central goal of the piece of work is to show the methodology in our Unit in relation to nursing cares carried out in a patient treated of this pathology, operated surgically through Nesbit technique. We highlight the role of nursing, at hospital and at home, and the more usual nursing diagnoses that they usually introduce, thus as the real and potential problems. For this purpose a clinical case of a patient diagnosed and treated of Peyronie disease in our Service is shown. The approaching of nursing requires a special sensitivity, since it is a subject considered as taboo by our society still nowadays.
