El monasterio escondidopasado y presente de un monasterio medieval

Zusammenfassung

This paper tries to compile, gather and update the research done until now about Santa María la Real monastery in the township of Tórtoles de Esgueva, which used to be a Benedictine monastery and now is a place for economic activities. Through a diachronic follow-up, this paper means to explain the historical evolution from a mediaeval monastery to a modern hotel: “El Monasterio Escondido” (the hidden monastery). Today past and present are fused and expressed in the hotel activities settled in the beautiful framework of its proto-gothic architecture. The paper is structured in two big sections: its history, linked together since its monastic foundation until today, and its art through the study of the different rooms and their use.
