Résumé

This paper analyzes the population of a copper-producing region in the Viceroyalty of New Spain: Huacana in Michoacan. We performed a study highlighting the region of metropolitan mining policy to encourage and monitor the production of copper. The population of La Huacana, which was located on Mount Royal Inguaran mines, said strong growth during the eighteenth century, especially in the second half. The analysis of patterns of confession and communion made by the pastors will allow us to address the population living in the Inguaran mines and evaluate their size, evolution, quality, and ethnic origin.
