Discurso de la obesidad y Educación Física: riesgos e implicaciones y alternativas

Resumen

En este artículo, exploramos la situación actual de la Educación Física escolar en España, caracterizada por un discurso biomédico, por una preocupación por el aumento de las horas lectivas de la asignatura en pro de luchar contra la obesidad infantil y juvenil y por cierto encauzamiento neoliberal. Para satisfacer este discurso predominante, los currículos de Educación Física están priorizando entre sus diferentes elementos (fines, contenidos y referentes evaluativos) aspectos relacionados con la salud, mientras que otros aspectos educativos asumen un papel residual. Por ello, se defiende un modelo de Educación Física con un enfoque educativo que utilice el movimiento como medio de formación integral y de transformación de la sociedad desde una postura crítica. El artículo pretende contribuir al debate actual en torno a la pertinencia (o no) de aumentar las horas de la materia, al tiempo que procura contribuir a un cambio de paradigma de la asignatura que permita redefinir y reconstituir su esencia pedagógica, crítica y, fundamentalmente, educativa.
