Abstract

This paper includes the results of the searching, cataloging and analysis of the organic archaeological material of the Phoenician Necropolis of La Joya (Huelva) preserved in the Museum of Huelva. Not all the material cited by archaeologists were found in the museum. Even so, knowing that the registry was biased, we attempt has been made to carry out a paleobiological analysis as complete as possible of fauna, flora, strontium isotopes and dating. The results obtained have provided information about some ritual customs developed in this necropolis and some paleoenvironmental aspects of the environment during the Iron Age (2650 ± 45 BP / 2565 ± 40 BP). It is interesting to note the use of shells of the genus Glycymeris, Ruditapes and Ostrea as offerings, very frequent species in the Andalusien coast, as well as canid and ungulate bones. Both the botanical and the malacological analyzes coincide in the description of an anthropized biotope with scarce tree cover. Finally, the results of the strontium analysis show need the baseline of the area to interprete them with sufficient guaranties.
