Zusammenfassung

The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the importance of the motivation variable in the initiation and maintenance of healthy behaviors such as physical activity, active movement, and sleep time in school adolescents. In the same way, it is proposed to analyze how said behaviors predict constituent variables of physical and mental wellbeing. A total of 2,243 students with ages ranging from 10 to 17 years old from various educational centers of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura participated. The participants reported on the different levels of motivational regulation, and the satisfaction and frustration of Basic Psychological Needs (BPN), also, variables related to healthy habits such as physical activity, sleep time, and adequate sedentary time, and finally, variables related to physical and mental well-being were considered, such as emotional intelligence, subjective well-being, subjective happiness, self-concept, and health-related quality of life. The design carried out was cross-sectional, and analysis of relationships, differences and predictions was carried out through structural equation models. Finally, it is concluded on the importance of motivational processes in promoting healthy habits in adolescents, and how these affect well-being indicators (subjective happiness, quality of life, subjective well-being, physical self-concept).
