Abstract
November 2020 marked the 25th anniversary of the launch of Euro-Mediterranean relations. The Declaration of Barcelona stated the objective of creating an area of peace and stability, which is nowadays further away from being achieved than ever. The regional security context has suffered from numerous changes that have challenged the European approximation towards the region as well as proved its lack of a strategy towards the Mediterranean space.
