Laburpena

The main objective of this paper is the Arabic edition of the chapter of the waw letter of Kitāb al-Ŷāmiˁ, a 12th-13th century treatise by the Andalusian scientist Ibn al-Bayṭār.The main manuscript used for our edition is the oldest one and is preserved in El Escorial library (MS n. 840, fols. 223-225r).We have alsorelied on manuscripts 839 (292r-294v) from the same library and on Col. GayangosCXXV (Volume 3, 185v-191r) from the Library of the Royal Academy of History inMadrid, in this order, to perform the task of collating and correcting errors or difficultreadings presented in the base manuscript. The second objective is to present aSpanish translation of the same chapters. These two main tasks areaccompanied by a brief contextualization of the author and his work, along with somebroad strokes on the manuscripts used here andthesources andauthorities that appear in this chapter
