Zusammenfassung

IGCP 639 Project began in 2016, as a continuation of preceding projects related to “Changes in sea level” and linked to the Spanish National IGCP Committee. In 2017 the Spanish Working Group 639 (SWG639) became official to give stability to SWG; it is composed of 80 members from 39 Spanish universities and research centers. The purposes of the project are the identification of changes in historical coastal records and extreme events that helps to enlighten the dynamics and vul- nerability of the coast, and the effect due to possible human impacts at different time scales. During these 3 years, numerous activities such as the support and organization of scientific meetings have been developed. It should be highlighted, the internationalization of the group, with an active participation in the annual meetings of the IGCP639 (from Oman 2016 to China 2019); as well as its involvement in the European Geosciences Union (2018, 2019) and at the 20th INQUA Congress (Dublin 2019). At national level, it should be noted the participation of the SWG639 in the IX and X Coastal Geomorphology Simposium. The SWG has contributed with more than 20 articles published on the topics dealing with changes in sea level, extreme events and coastal geomorphology. The SWG639 is an open, interdisciplinary, dynamic group that seeks to favor links with other groups for collaborations, keeping active a network of researchers, as well as promoting the participation of young researchers in the various activities of the project.
