Abstract

The objective of this thesis is to develop a tourism planning for the Ramsar category wetlands of Ecuador, taking as the object of study a representative wetland of each continental geographic region; on the La Segua Coast, in the Andes Cajas and the Cuyabeno-Lagartococha-Yasuní complex in the Amazonas. This work has shown that one of the main causes of environmental problems in Ecuadorian wetlands is the lack of knowledge of ecosystem services, in addition to inadequate environmental management by regional and local managers. The methodology used has started from an exploratory/descriptive approach, being a mixed-type investigation. First, the conceptual and legal foundation was carried out through a bibliographic-documentary review in specialized sources related to Ecuadorian public policies for conservation. Once the most relevant data has been systematized and the comparative analysis of the definitions has been carried out, a synthesis matrix has been proposed showing the concepts that are the basis for the theoretical framework, in addition to proceeding to the classification of the identified wetlands in accordance with the guidelines of the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention, which classifies them into 30 categories of natural and 9 artificial wetlands...
