Abstract

In this work was evaluated the inclusion of orange pulp in the dietof dairy goats on milk production and composition. Twenty-fourMurciano-Granadina goats at mid-lactation were used. The goats weredistributed into two homogeneous groups according to their productivecharacteristics for a pre-experimental period of 7 days. Two diets wereformulated, one of which was composed of alfalfa hay, barley straw andcommercial feed, and the other diet included 2.5 kg of orange pulp. Thesupply of concentrates was adjusted for both diets were isoenergetic andisonitrogenous. A crossover design with 2 periods of 21 days each wasconducted. Each period consisted of an adaptation phase of animals todiets for 10 days and then controls of milk production and compositionwere carried out. After taking samples of tank milk, it found that theaddition of orange pulp in the diet increased significantly milk fat andtotal solids in 0.47 points; however, the milk production and its proteinand lactose content were unaffected.
