Abstract

‘La Campiña’ and the ‘Sierra Sur’ (The Countryside and Southern mountain range) in the province of Seville is a territory with a heavy load of historical and vernacular heritage. The main assets with some national or regional significance are usually protected by the figures proposed by patrimonial laws, but those with a small grade of preservation are protected by the city councils through urban planning. From a study sample of intermediate populations of the region, the content of existing urban planning instruments with a direct or indirect impact on heritage are analyzed, intesifying their values. The urban reality derived from the application of this legislation is also evaluated, and some proposal for an effective protection of the heritage in towns by the local administration itself have been presented.
