Abstract
The look of the urban planners towards the territorial repercussions, positive or negative, caused after the construction of a shopping center is not something that abounds. In fact, this detailed and extensive research is precisely one of those pioneering works, where the scope of study covers both the Principality of Asturias and the Community of Madrid. Therefore, two differentiated regions are analyzed in a comparative manner, with the contribution of a systematized classification of the types of shopping centers based on different parameters. The methodology has consisted of thematically mapping each of the shopping centers analyzed in relation to the traffic and road maps of the Ministry of Public Works on different dates, based on the alphanumeric data of the Cadastre and the cartographic bases of the National Geographic Institute. The photo-interpretation of the results obtained has served to clarify the initial hypothesis.
