Abstract

In this article, we analyse media information and opinion on demographics through a qualitative content analysis based on the conceptual coding and relational categorisation of a sample of press articles published by the Spanish newspapers ABC, El País, and eldiario.es between January 2017 and June 2021. The results show differences between conservative and progressive media in terms of the editorial policy of each newspaper, the type of experts consulted, the demographic discourse used, and the political intentionality of the news. There are also notable differences regarding the use of inappropriate or ethically questionable data.
