Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gather and to clarify Bruce Lee's contributions, through his work, to the phenomenon of combat. In order to carry out this work, we opted for a methodological design from the constructivist paradigm, using the research strategy of a case study. The sample selected by the technique of document review is constituted by the official literature published to date on Bruce Lee, and on which we applied the content analysis technique using the MaxQDA v. 11 software. The results conclude that Bruce Lee understood the combat as a process of engagement, dynamic and constantly changing, oriented to self-defense, preserving above all his integrity against threats present in the fight. Therefore, he built up his own paradigm of explanations and interventions, which is held on a performance-based and ornamental reductionism approach during actions that take place, away from conventions, traditions and preset sequences.
