Abstract

With the aim of finding out the level of teaching digital competence among football coaches in the Valencian Community, 800 coaches were selected to assess their digital competences, their professional competences and their professional performance. This doctoral thesis attempts to address the relationship between three theoretical constructs through a model of causal relationships. Digital Teaching Competence is a competence that any educator, whether a sports trainer or an educator at different educational stages, should possess. The group of football coaches is in contact with young football players in training, whom they teach and educate in sport and may also be in contact with elite athletes and sports performance, a very prominent context in today's society. The work extensively develops the aspects related to digital competence and digital competence in teaching, focusing on the different national and international reference frameworks, specific training in digital competence and the socio-demographic variables that directly affect digital competence in teaching, such as age and gender. The sports coach also presents a series of Professional Competences, aspects that affect them from the context of action, performance or training. The theories that support the professional competences have been reviewed and the training of the football coach has been exposed from the two educational routes, that of the Conserjería de Educación, or especially from the route of the Federación de Fútbol de Comunidad Valenciana (Football Federation of the Valencian Community). In view of the relationship between competences, the experimental section has been framed, which tries to see the relationships between both constructs and their influence on professional performance.
