Resumen
This article studies the material and representative development of the courtyard house as the preferred dwelling of the business bourgeoisie and the wealthy classes in Seville from the second half of the 18th century to the first decades of the 20th century. These were the centuries of consolidation and refinement of this architecture, which was widely established in the city. Its material success and the awareness of the value of this type of architecture as an identity of Seville’s domestic architecture led it to become a symbolic reference point for the city in the context of the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929.
