Résumé

Although educational contexts have been considered as fundamental agents of transformation in favour of more democratic societies for decades, research in physical education shows that it is a space where discourses and practices continue to marginalize certain identities and bodies, (re)producing the status quo of gender. This doctoral thesis aims to design a curricular intervention under a critical feminist pedagogy frame. The intervention is called Deportigualízate and has the purpose to challenge sexism through physical-sports contexts. In addition, this thesis aims to study the impact of Deportigualízate on the participants, and analyse the transformative possibilities of the intervention. The research is framed in a feminist research paradigm, and both, the generation and analysis of data, is carried out through mixed methods. A Diagnostic Study and two case studies have been conducted. The Diagnostic Study aims to explore the gender stereotypes of physical education teachers and secondary school students, in the province of A Coruña. In the first Case Study, the intervention is enacted in a class of secondary school students in that province. The second Case Study consists in enacting the intervention with Physical Education-Sport Tertiary Education students. The findings allow us to conclude that Deportigualízate meets the proposed objectives, and that through consulting strategies it could be adapted to other contexts.
