Abstract
The author defends a third way, which he calls interculturalism, between the classic conceptions of liberalism and communitarianism. Interculturalism implies a position of equality of cultures in the process of intercultural dialogue. It is based on three grounds -epistemological, ethical and historical- and four general principles: the principle of the equality of cultures, considered in their irregular and unpredictable historical evolution and not as definitive models, the principle of starting from zero in cultural interchange, the principle of converging communication and the principle of final hypothetical universalism.
