Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the socio-ecological imaginations that emerge as a product of the work and thinking of women concerned with various socio-environmental issues. To do so, we study the analytical approaches of central and peripheral ecofeminist, their convergences, disagreements, and purposes. We found that there are not only different ways of looking at the issues surrounding the socio-environmental question, but also different ways of taking actions against them, which leads us to justify the approach with different theoretical and practical categories – socio-ecological imaginations, as we will call them here. We conclude that the so-called central ecofeminists (European and Global North) are characterised by their focus on the «sustainability of life» and the «ethics of care» as central categories of analysis, while the ecofeminist experiences that we understand as peripheral (Latin American and Global South) involve community processes of resistance in which notions such as «body-territory» and «water-body-territory» are brought into play in the face of the region’s terricidal extractivisms.
