Resum

This text proposes a new interpretation for the description made by Tacitus (Ann. 2.60-61) of the journey through Egypt by Germanicus (19 CE). The author establishes parallels of this text with Herodotus’ Histories looking for a theoretical intention in it. Tacitus uses this Egyptian episode to express ideas about methods and possibilities of reaching certainties by a historical discourse.
