Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the anthropometric profile, body composition and somatotype in female flag football players. A descriptive study was conducted with a total of 18 female players (21.24 ± 1.39 years of age) belonging to a Mexican university team. Anthropometric measurements were made under ISAK protocol to characterize the anthropometric profile and somatotype. Body composition was measured with DEXA. The main findings of this study showed a body mass index (BMI) of normal-weight, height of 169.97 cm, fat percentage of 22.73 % estimated by anthropometry and 28.46% with DEXA, fat free mass of 45.18 kg, muscle mass, 38.78 %, finally, a mesomorphic-endomorphic somatotype. It is concluded that the players have short stature with respect to some collective sports, in addition, they showed moderate levels of fat percentage, and acquired a somatotype of moderate muscular development.
