Résumé

The practice of health-oriented physical exercise encompasses both the healthy population and the population with pathologies. In the case of cancer, the evidence promotes exercise for these patients under specialised supervision. However, the number and characteristics of physical ex-ercise services and professionals for the oncological population in the Spanish fitness market are unknown. The goal ewas to analyse the services offered on physical exercise for the oncological population in Spain and the academic qualifications of the professionals involved. Once the en-tities offering the services to be analysed (n=47) had been found, they were sent an ad hocques-tionnaire to collect basic data related to the company and the services offered. With a response rate of 55.32% (n=26), the offer came mainly from private initiative (n=24; 92.30%), targeting users with any type of cancer and at any stage of the disease (n=23; 88.5%). A large majority of services (n=23; 88.5%) followed established exercise guidelines for this population, including supervision of sessions by professionals with different qualifications. Considering the number of entities initially found, together with the epidemiological statistics of the disease, it could be affirmed that there is a quantitative deficit in the care of this population group from the perspec-tive of physical exercise. However, the data collected suggest that the services offered are of high quality, as both the specific offers and those who implement them seem to follow the established premises.
