Abstract
The residence and work permit for exceptional circumstances is granted to foreigners who are in Spain in an irregular situation, provided that they meet the requirements established by law. This is a measure that can help a significant number of workers who work in the underground economy to regularise their employment and personal situation. In this way, they can be guaranteed social security coverage and the right to receive at least the minimum interprofessional wage. To this end, the legislator has designed different types of arraigo, depending on the characteristics and needs of the person requesting it. However, despite the benefits of this permit, there are some aspects that could be improved.
