Abstract

Due diligence in matters of human rights and the environment is a matter of special importance today, taking into account that the global and digitalized labor market has meant that multinational companies have assumed a particularly predominant role, almost completely dominating that market. In this context, demanding responsibility from these companies for failure to respect the rights of those involved throughout the entire value chain becomes essential, and here the concept of due diligence is fundamental. Therefore, regulatory recognition of the concept is crucial, as neighboring countries such as France, Holland, Norway and Germany have done, and we are waiting for the EU's Due Diligence Directive to finally come to fruition.
