Abstract

Using data from different statistical sources in Spain, the following article confirms an increase of young people in rental housing, but at the same time, a generalized worsening of the difficulties of access for this tenure regime due to very high prices, that would be reflected through the growing effort rates to access rental housing. Together with the low importance of subsidized housing (compared to free market) and the little promotion of subsidized rental housing, in our country the residential context hinders the emancipation of young people. However, a greater presence of Reduced- price rent can make emancipation processes earlier and faster. To contrast this hypothesis, an indicator of residential emancipation opportunities by provinces has been developed, concluding that a greater presence of subsidized rental housing in the province in which one resides positively affects the state of residential emancipation.
