Resumen

Geitodoris planata was described by Alder and Hancock in 1846 under the name Doris planata. Further descriptions have raised some confusion which we claim to clear in this work. So, some authors consulted attribute the Alder and Hancock's species to the Discodoris genus. Others as Eliot (1906, 1910) and Pruvot-Fol (1951, 1954) consider the species within the Geitodoris genus. The anatomical study of two pecimens found in the waters of the Western Andalusian littoral contributes to finish the original description and proves according with this that it belongs to the Geitodoris genus.
