Resumen

New demographic trends show the need for changes in the residential model. The main objective is focused on identifying and analyzing the characteristics that influence the improvement of the quality of residential centers. Based on qualitative methodology, theoretical and systematic reviews and focus group analysis with key informants. The results show generalized dissatisfaction of the participants with the need for change to improve the quality of the centers and the quality of life of the elderly residents, detecting those factors that are susceptible to change for improvement and that could have positive effects on the quality of life of the elderly residents, family members and workers in the centers. The conclusions indicate that the well-being of residents requires a regulatory change centered on the person and the needs of the centers and individuals.
