Abstract

This doctoral thesis focuses on the impact that diversity has on the theoretical model of Job demands and resources JD-R (Bakker et al., 2023; Bakker & Demerouti, 2007), considering the role of demographic variables such as gender, age, seniority and level of responsibility. The three articles that make up the thesis address different issues but related to each other and to a common theoretical model. The first article focuses on the healthcare sector and how diversity affects Work engagement and performance. In the second article, workplace violence is introduced as a possible consequence of the demands and lack of job resources. Finally, the third article assesses how the increase in an external stressor, such as the Covid19 pandemic, has caused changes in job demands and resources, taking into account diversity in catering industry.
