Resumen

Objetivo: Describir los aspectos relevantes de esta metodología para su aplicación práctica, integrando las particularidades específicas que inciden en la prescripción del ejercicio y en los factores que implican las respuestas del ser humano, finalizando con recomendaciones para un abordaje práctico a partir de modelos de ejercicios utilizados en el campo de la ortopedia. Método: Revisión narrativa en base a la pregunta ¿Cómo aplicar adecuadamente el entrenamiento de fuerza junto a restricción parcial del flujo sanguíneo (BFR, del inglés Blood Flow Restriction) en la cotidianeidad de un contexto clínico-ortopédico para potenciar los beneficios conocidos y disminuir los potenciales riesgos? Resultados: Se contrastaron aspectos metodológicos de la aplicación de la técnica, de prescripción del ejercicio, de los diversos factores que influyen en su aplicación y del abordaje que debe considerar un fisioterapeuta en el campo de la ortopedia. Se analizaron los protocolos BFR utilizados en ensayos clínicos de 15 revisiones de la literatura aplicados a población con lesiones musculoesqueléticas. Conclusión: Los resultados clínicos de BFR son promisorios, pero todavía escasos en cantidad, condición que ha sido facilitada por la amplia variedad de factores que afectan en la aplicación metodológica. La evidencia existente permite resumir los principales aspectos metodológicos encontrados en la aplicación ortopédica e incluir sugerencias para la aplicación de BFR en la cotidianeidad de un contexto clínico-ortopédico.
