Abstract

On April 13, 2024, Iran carried out the operation 'True Promise' in response to the attack it had suffered two weeks earlier on Syrian soil. Unlike previous responses, in which Tehran activated its proxies to maintain itself in the gray zone, this action prompted the launch of more than three hundred missiles and drones from Iranian soil. Although this unprecedented action had several objectives, the main one was to restore the deterrence balance with Israel. This article reviews the background, development, and potential effects of this action, which represents a turning point in the competitive logic between Israel and Iran.
