Abstract

This article takes as its starting point Fricker’s theory on testimonial injustice, to analyse the phenomenon of gender misinformation present today in fake news. We understand that the gender misinformation increasingly present in the virtual world can be explained as a reaction to the advances made by feminism, and aims to attack and discredit the feminist movement through hate speech. Applying the concepts developed by Fricker in Epistemic Injustice, we consider that feminism faces a situation of systematic testimonial injustice which calls into question its capacity as a subject of knowledge and which is harmful both for the movement itself and for society in general. Having analysed this, and given that it is a strategy that has been used repeatedly throughout history, we reflect on possible forms of action that allow us to escape from this situation.
