Guillem Colom is associate professor of Political Science and Public Administration at Pablo de Olavide University, currently on special assignment as a senior advisor and head of geopolitical analysis in the Cabinet of the Chief of Defense Staff. He is an associated researcher at the Autonomous University of Chile, a member of the NATO’s ACT Innovation Hub, and a full member of the Academy of Military Sciences and Arts. He was also a co-founder and co-director of THIBER, the cybersecurity think tank. He holds a Ph.D. in International Security, a Master's degree in International Relations, and bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Political Science. He has attended specialization courses on strategic affairs in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and the United States. He participated in the U.S. Department of State's international leadership program and the LVIII High National Defense Studies Course. Before joining the university, he was assigned to the Armed Forces Transformation Unit of EMAD, supporting military transformation processes, defense planning, capability generation, and concept development and experimentation. At the university, he continued to participate as a subject matter expert in European, allied, or multinational projects in these areas. In terms of academic work, he has served as academic director for several degrees, combining teaching in International Relations and Political Science, participation in postgraduate programs on international politics, defense, or strategic studies, and military training courses. He is also a guest lecturer at universities, military institutions, public institutions, and Spanish and international research centers, as well as multilateral organizations. His research focuses on strategic studies, particularly defense policies, military innovation, and military capability generation. He is the author of three monographs, editor of five works, and author of over two hundred scientific, technical, and outreach works on strategic topics. Among other recognitions, he has received the third (2005), first (2015 and 2019), and second prizes (2022) from the Army Magazine and the First Prize from the Aeronautics and Astronautics Magazine (2016).
