She holds a PhD in Human Geography from the Institut de Géographie Alpine at the University of Grenoble (France) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship under a Marie Curie contract in collaboration with the University of Seville and the Regional Ministry of the Environment of the Government of Andalusia. A humanist by vocation, she is deeply convinced of the value of both theoretical and applied research in helping us to understand the world of yesterday, today and tomorrow. For over twenty years she has reflected on lived, represented and imagined space. Her research combines methodologies and techniques from spatial analysis in order to provide both analytical insights and management-oriented responses, with particular focus on the dynamics and sustainability of the Spanish metropolitan model and on inclusive approaches to territorial development. Her work places particular emphasis on social and territorial cohesion, while also incorporating a gender perspective as an essential lens for analysing inequalities and advancing more equitable solutions. More recently, she has explored the potential of new technologies in geography and has put forward proposals aimed at fostering territorial governance that is more democratic, participatory and sensitive to diversity. She has supervised more than one hundred Master’s dissertations, in collaboration with both local and European universities, thereby contributing to the training of new generations of scholars in teaching, human geography and resource management.
