Resum

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an isoinertial device vs. free weights on Post-Activation Potenciation and its effects on a subsequent vertical jump performance. Methods. Three physically active men (23 ± 1.0 yo) completed two potenciation half squat protocols (Kbox and free weights) with a load that elicit the maximal power (SmartCoach Power Encoder; SmartCoach Europe AB, Estocolmo, Suecia). The study was performed in two different days. In each session, they performed 15 CMJ in a force plate (Accupower; AMTI, Watertown, MA) recording at 1000 Hz during 7 seconds. They did the CMJs in three moments 1) before any activity 2) after warm up and 3) after PAP protocol. Mean and Standard deviation were calculated for each biomechanical parameters. Effect sizes were used to evaluate the effect of the protocols in the differents kinetic parameters. Results. There were no differences on the kinetic parameters between Pre to post-Warm up or pre to Post-PAP with ES <0.2 (trivial). Conclusion. In conclusion, any of the protocols used in this study allowed us to potenciate vertical jump performance. It can be explained by the training level of the participants and the lack of familiarization with the different training methods.
