Ajuste marital entre madres y padres de pacientes con trastornos de la conducta alimentaria.

Resumen

Objetivo            La asociación entre mal ajuste marital y problemas psicológicos está bien documentada. En este trabajo se analizó dicho ajuste entre padres de pacientes con Trastornos de la Conducta Alimentaria (TCA) y su relación con algunas variables relacionadas con la alimentación y con el modelo estético corporal.Método            Participaron 104 madres y padres de pacientes con TCA, quienes cumplimentaron cuestionarios relacionados con el ajuste marital, creencias sobre los alimentos y áreas de influencia del modelo estético corporal (CIMEC).Resultados            No hubo correlación significativa entre padres y madres en cuanto al ajuste marital global ni en cuanto a las áreas de influencia del CIMEC. Hubo correlación significativa y positiva con respecto a las creencias irracionales sobre los alimentos, subescala en la que puntuaron más las madres. Las madres puntuaron más en preocupación por estar delgado, influencia de los amigos, influencias interpersonales, ansiedad corporal, influencia de la publicidad y puntuación total del CIMEC. El grado de ajuste marital observado estuvo en el rango propio de poblaciones clínicas.Conclusiones            El ajuste marital en padres de pacientes con TCA es moderado, similar al de poblaciones clínicas, menor al de poblaciones no clínicas y no específico. La mayor presencia de creencias irracionales sobre los alimentos en las madres, junto con una mayor influencia del modelo estético corporal imperante y el distrés que pueda originar el grado de desajuste marital podría ser un factor negativo a tener en cuenta durante el proceso terapéutico de los TCA cuando se trabaja con los padres con funciones de co-terapeutas.
