Résumé

The translation industry is changing at a rapid and intense pace, with radically new dynamics emerging every few years. In addition to new field-specific specializations, translation practice is shaped by technological evolutions which also impact on translation core processes (De la Cova, 2017). In this study, the most significant explicit and implicit constraints affecting localization processes are identified and analysed, as determining factors in new technology-mediated translation genres. Project specifications will be described in order to determine whether their constraining nature has an explicit or implicit impact on the localizator’s work and the different translation processes. Situational, practice-based examples will be provided to illustrate the different constraining levels in this context
