Abstract

In Simultaneous Interpreting (SI) training there are different learning stages, from the beginner's stage to the advanced stage which are characterized by a series of specific aspects and shortcomings. In my opinion detecting and resolving these difficulties in an early stage could prevent more serious problems in the intermediate and advanced learning stages. Thus, in order to identify the most frequent shortcomings the student faces in the first stages of SI learning, I decided to carry out an experimental study with beginners. This study showed that there are some problems that beginners who participated in the study share and which require the adoption of a systematic approach targeted at each problem. For this reason I designed specific working plans to solve each specific shortcoming in that I think that in interpreter training detecting the errors a student makes must go hand in hand with a deep analysis of the root of the problem and the provision of possible solutions for improving.
