Resumen

La presente investigación analiza la infancia y adolescencia (1892-1907) del célebre polígrafo egipcio y gran renovador de la poesía árabe contemporánea ʻAbbās Maḥmūd al-ʻAqqād. Las fuentes documentales utilizadas son el primer volumen de su autobiografía póstuma, Anā (1964), las biografías sobre su persona publicadas por los críticos literarios ʻAbd al-Fatāḥ al-Dīdī, Ŷābir Qumayḥa, Šawqī Ḍayf y Ḥamdī al-Sakkūt, las memorias de su amigo íntimo Muḥammad Ṭāhir al-Ŷabalāwī y las de Fāṭima al-Yūsuf y, por último, la información facilitada por Ṭāhir al-Ṭanāḥī, editor de la autobiografía consultada. Este estudio pretende delimitar las posibles causas de su carácter intransigente a través del método de estudio que sigue en la composición de las biografías que dedica a las grandes personalidades de la historia, denominado falsafa al-sujṭ (filosofía del descontento), consistente en partir de la convicción de que todo hombre que está dotado de capacidades excepcionales y de un gran talento, en realidad, compensa una debilidad física. En conclusión, se verifica que la premisa inicial de la compensación de la debilidad física con la dotación de capacidades excepcionales y de un gran talento se confirma en su caso
