Resumo

The COVID19 pandemic is leading public authorities to take measures to quell the spread of the virus. Control measures, quarantines and restrictions on mobility became widespread and have changed the lives of citizens around the world in an unprecedented health and socio-economic crisis. In this study, we will look at the challenges the coronavirus pandemic poses to democratic systems in Latin America. First of all, we have analyzed the situation in the region where inequality, problems of trust and legitimacy in institutions have increased. Ultimately, we focus on the study of political leadership as the main variable to understand effective public management of crises.
