Abstract

This study analyses growth traits in Murciano-Granadina (MG) purebredkids comparing with MG x Boer (BO) crossbred kids until they reach a9 kg live weight. Kids were fed with a commercial milk replacer (LR)(Nantamilk Supreme, Nanta España S.A.) and were slaughtered at9 kg or when they were 9 weeks old. Crossbred kids showed higherbirth weight (2,79±0,13 kg vs. 2,18±0,13 kg), higher average dailygain (179,3±3,8 g/d vs. 139,7±3,8 g/d), lower feed conversion ratio(1,16±0,03 vs. 1,36±0,03 kg LR/kg live weight) and lower age at theslaughter weight (35,0±1,45 vs. 50,2±1,45 days). CrossbreedingMurciano-Granadina goats with Boer bucks allowed reducing LR intake(2,2 kg/goat kid) and lactation period (15 days).
