Abstract

Worldwide, children and adolescents perform 60 minutes of physical activity a day. And just over a third follow the recommendations for leisure time with screens. Despite increased concern about physical activity and sedentary behavior in children and adolescents, the global situation has not improved compared to the decade before the covid-19 pandemic. They have higher levels of screen use, spend less time doing organized sports activities, and are less physically active overall. In these stages, Spain has improved in the general physical activity indicator and the sedentary behavior indicator has worsened, with a large gender gap, since girls and adolescents are less active in general physical activity, organized sports activities and active play . Effective strategies are required to overcome the paradox and gap detected.
