Abstract

Listening music seems to have an effect on the student emotion experiences. However, this relationship appears to be mediated by social, cultural and cognitive factors. In this study, the aims were to verify changes in the emotional state of a sample of teacher students, and analyzing if those changes were mediated by contextual conditions. A quasi-experimental design was developed with a group of 50 students of Education from the University of Malaga. A self-report, recording the self-perceived emotional state of the participants, was used. A descriptive and nonparametric contrast hypothesis analysis were developed. Although results were not conclusive, they marked the complexity of the relationship between emotions and music. This is coherent with literature reviewed.
