Abstract

In this paper we present new chorological, karyological and nomenclatural records on the family Cyperaceae, mainly focused on the Iberian and Balearic taxa. We highlight the third and fourth Ibero-Balearic reports of Bolboschoenus planiculmis (F. Schmidt) T.V. Egorova, the discovery of Carex lachenalii Schkuhr in the Iberian Peninsula sensu stricto, the first record of Carex oedipostyla Duval-Jouve for the Ibiza Island and of Carex liparocarpos Gaudin for the Valencian Community, and the finding of the first population of Eriophorum angustifolium Honck in the Spanish part of the Iberian Central System. Several records are important for conservation purposes, since they refer to species included in different threatened categories. Regarding karyological data, we present chromosome counts in Metaphase I of meiosis of Carex lainzii Luceño, E. Rico & T. Romero, Carex microcarpa Bertol. ex Moris and Carex pseudocyperus L. Finally, the binomen Carex dyrrachiensis Nelmes (=Carex castroviejoi Luceño & Jim.- Mejías × Carex oederi Retz.) is lectotypified here, and we claim Carex emmanuelis Luceño as the correct name for the hybrid between Carex depressa Link and Carex caryophyllea Latourr
